Explore Hadrian's Wall
Everyone should visit Hadrian’s Wall at least once in their life … Hadrian’s Wall, a World Heritage Site, is the most important structure built by the Romans in Britain and the best known frontier in the Roman Empire. It was constructed over a period of six years on the orders of the Emperor Hadrian. The wall is 73 miles long and is set in some breathtakingly beautiful countryside.
Our tour will visit sections of the wall itself and many of the outstanding roman sites associated with it. This will include the incredibly well preserved fort at Housesteads, the Roman town at Corbridge and some smaller sites such as the milecastle at Cawfields and the Mithraic temple at Carrawburgh. We will also explore the fort, excavations and museum at Vindolanda.
This short break is based at the Newcastle end of the wall from where we will travel out daily. Our own roman expert tour guide will accompany us on all our visits, allowing for plenty of discussion.
